Storylines
How Storylines work
A Storyline is an ongoing collection of related Moments. Here is how Storylines, Moments, following, and privacy fit together on Tembo.
A place for each part of your life
Start a Storyline for a goal, hobby, friendship, relationship, pet, trip, season, or any other part of your life you want to document. Each one has a title, an optional description, and the Moments you add to it over time.
One account can hold many Storylines, so your first 5K and your first apartment each keep their own story instead of sharing one feed.
Moments
A Moment is a single post inside a Storyline. In Tembo 1.0, a Moment is a photo. Because every Moment belongs to a Storyline, it always arrives with its context: the part of your life it is about.
Add a Moment whenever something new happens. You can delete any Moment later from its ••• menu.
Open, closed, and deleted
A Storyline stays open until you close it. Closing a Storyline preserves it and stops new Moments from being added until you reopen it. Deleting a Storyline is different: it removes the Storyline from Tembo.
Follow Storylines, not people
On Tembo you follow individual Storylines. Keep up with the parts of someone’s life that interest you, like their running or their dog, without following everything they share.
Who can see a Storyline
Every Storyline has its own privacy setting:
- Public: people on Tembo can see it.
- My Circle: only the people in your Circle can see it.
- Only Me: only you can see it.
Your account’s setting in Persona → Settings → Privacy sets the widest audience. A Storyline can use that audience or a narrower one, never a wider one.
Privacy settings decide who can view a Storyline on Tembo, but they cannot stop someone who can see it from taking a screenshot. Share what you are comfortable sharing with that audience.
Your Persona
Your Persona brings your Storylines together in one place. It is also where you will find your Settings.
Staying safe
You can report a profile, Storyline, or Moment from its ••• menu, and block someone to create a safety boundary between your accounts. Read the Community Guidelines for what is and is not allowed on Tembo.
